Dr Victor Hazout's background
A periodontist in Levallois-Perret, near Paris, Dr Victor Hazout focuses his practice on the gums and bone that hold the teeth: treating periodontitis, oral surgery, bone reconstruction and implants. His university training follows the same thread, from periodontology to lasers and preventive medicine.
A practice centred on periodontology
Periodontology treats the tissues that surround and support the teeth: gum, ligament and bone. It is the core of Dr Hazout's work, from treating periodontitis to the maintenance that follows. Oral surgery and implant dentistry follow on from it: when bone has been lost or a tooth is missing, it has to be rebuilt before it is replaced, and then looked after.
That continuity explains the order of his training: periodontology and surgery first, then implantology and bone reconstruction, and finally lasers and preventive medicine, which shed light on the links between gum inflammation and general health.

A dissertation on periodontitis and chronic inflammation
His dissertation for the university diploma in anti-ageing and preventive medicine (Université Paris-Est Créteil, 2025) deals with periodontitis and inflammaging, the chronic low-grade inflammation that accompanies ageing. It looks at periodontitis as a possible marker of this inflammation, at the tests that measure it (high-sensitivity CRP, HbA1c), and at what is known about the effect of periodontal treatment on these markers.
The work separates what clinical trials have established (periodontal treatment lowers some inflammatory markers, and HbA1c in people with diabetes) from what remains a hypothesis (an effect on ageing itself). The articles on this site follow the same rule: periodontitis and general health.

Clinical approach
- A full diagnosis before any treatment: conversation, clinical examination, X-rays and appropriate further tests, and a look at risk factors (smoking, diabetes, medication).
- The least invasive treatment that solves the problem: surgery comes in when non-surgical treatment is not enough.
- Explanations and options: each proposal is explained, with its limits and alternatives, before a written estimate.
- Maintenance: periodontitis can be stabilised, not cured in the sense of a return to the original state; it then needs monitoring, including around implants.
- Liaison with your doctor when your general health calls for it (diabetes, anticoagulants, cardiovascular disease).
